Service by Students
Keplerians actively engage in community service across diverse sectors, including education, health, agriculture, and livelihoods. The College provides a supportive environment and thorough orientation, enabling students to apply their knowledge and skills to empower and uplift communities. Kepler College encourages every student to participate in at least one community service project each year. Every course and project at the College is designed with the potential to address local challenges, and students and staff are continuously supported to learn by doing.
Women Empowerment
Keplerians are helping women small business owners in Kinyinya (Kigali City) strengthen their financial independence. Through practical training in budgeting, saving, and investment, women gain vital financial literacy skills. Guided by students and staff, the project ensures women earning as little as 40,000 RWF a month can build stronger, more secure futures.
College Amahoro Giveback Project
At College Amahoro Secondary School in the Kiziba Refugee Camp, Keplerians continue to empower both students and teachers through ICT and English training. In 2024 alone, 96 participants completed the program, leading to a 44% improvement in teacher performance and a 5.12% boost in student performance within just 60 days. Tools like Google Suite and public speaking became everyday teaching resources, proof that small skills make a huge difference.
Digital Empowerment Project
The 5-day program empowers high school graduates around Kigali in Rwanda with the right skills and the confidence to navigate the digital world. In 2024, graduates from Groupe Scolaire Gisozi gained essential computer and online skills, recording a 21.8% improvement in digital proficiency. Today, 90% can confidently create presentations, apply for jobs, and embrace the future with digital power.
NextGen Empowerment
The NextGen Empowerment initiative prepares young people for life beyond the classroom helping them step confidently into higher education or the workforce with the right mix of career skills, financial literacy, and personal growth. At Kepler College, Seventeen Senior six students from Groupe Scolaire Gasave took part in this journey, sharpening their entrepreneurial mindset, soft skills, and community awareness. Their dedication translated into measurable success, with an average 2-point improvement in assessments.
Bright Starts for Pregnant Women
The project empowers expectant mothers with knowledge and confidence to manage both motherhood and life beyond it. At Kinyinya Health Centre, Keplerians partnered with 17 pregnant women to strengthen skills in financial literacy, healthcare, and mental well-being. With the support of student and staff volunteers, this initiative continues to go beyond training, through annual donations, it ensures that mothers and their babies thrive long after the sessions.
Kinyinya Kitchen Garden Project
Fighting malnutrition begins in the community. Through the Kitchen Garden Project, Keplerians equipped over 30 families with the skills to grow nutritious food at home, resulting in two thriving gardens feeding six households. More than just vegetables, the project, powered by student volunteers, fosters collaboration, self-sufficiency, and healthier living for children, elders, and the most vulnerable.
Art for Change
Part of Kepler College’s student-led “Give Back to the Community” initiative, the project offers high school students opportunities to develop their creativity, confidence, and career readiness through hands-on training in music, poetry, painting, and photography. Beyond skills, it fosters collaboration and self-expression while ensuring sustainability through the establishment of the Rwamagana Leaders’ Art Club.
E-Waste Disposal
Part of Kepler College’s Environment and Sustainability Initiatives, the project raises awareness on responsible e-waste management while strengthening community ties through Umuganda. In 2024, more than 200 Keplerians were trained in e-waste disposal and environmental responsibility. By cleaning, clearing bushes, and de-clogging water canals, the project continues to stand out as a model for promoting both environmental sustainability and civic engagement.
Growing Future Reading
The Growing Future Reading Project inspires children to fall in love with books and storytelling. At Gahini Shining Star School, Keplerians worked with 60 primary students, creating spaces for reading, comprehension, and storytelling. With the establishment of a sustainable Reading Club, launched with competitions and prizes, the project, supported by Kepler students and staff, is nurturing a new generation of readers eager to share stories and ideas.
Raising Awareness | Ethics & Ethical Leadership
The initiative addresses the gap in ethical education by equipping students with practical skills for ethical decision-making in both academic and professional settings. Led by Keplerians, to date, the project reached over 130 secondary school students at Groupe Scolaire Kinyinya through workshops, continuous mentorship, and the creation of the GS Kinyinya Leadership Club. By fostering a culture of ethical leadership and ensuring ongoing student engagement, the initiative is laying the foundation for sustainable leadership development within the community.
Women Empowerment in Tech and Digital Education
In collaboration with the Organization for Women in Science for Developing World (OWSD), Rwanda Chapter, the Women Empowerment in Tech and Digital Education initiative equips young women with the digital skills and entrepreneurial mindset needed to turn classroom learning into meaningful careers and community impact. Through mentorship, workshops, and exposure to role models from leading tech industries, students gain practical insights into applying technology for income generation and innovation.
