Mrs. Monica Geingos is a qualified lawyer with extensive corporate experience. Prior to becoming the 3rd First Lady of the Republic of Namibia, she was a co-shareholder and the Managing Director of Namibia’s largest private equity fund for over a decade. She also served on the boards of large public and private sector companies as either Chairperson or Deputy Chairperson. Mrs. Geingos served as the 3rd First Lady between March 2015 and February 2024. During her tenure, Mrs. Geingos channelled her first-hand insight into the intrinsic relationship between social development challenges and macro-economic trends into the work of the One Economy Foundation (ONE). ONE focuses on sustainably lifting people out of poverty traps and ensuring fair access to opportunities. Over the past nine (9) years, ONE has taken key learnings from the #BeFree Movement and institutionalised them into Project #BeFree – a one-stop youth centre that provides a continuum of holistic youth-friendly healthcar services to young people.

The Chancellor

Ambassador Prof. Charles Murigande served as Deputy Vice Chancellor for Institutional Advancement at the University of Rwanda from 2016 to 2020, after an accomplished career in public service and diplomacy. He was Rwanda’s Ambassador to Japan, with concurrent accreditation to Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, and the Philippines, and previously held ministerial portfolios in Education, Cabinet Affairs, Foreign Affairs, and Transport. A mathematician by training, he earned a Ph.D. from the University of Namur and an MBA from the University of Canberra. He has served as Rector of the former National University of Rwanda and continues to contribute through advisory roles.

Nathalie Munyampenda is the CEO of Kepler, a pioneering institution redefining higher education and upskilling in Africa. Through innovative university experiences and targeted interventions, Kepler equips graduates with 21st-century skills, achieving a 90% employment rate within six months. Nathalie is passionate about education equity and the future of work, advocating for accessible pathways that link learning to opportunity. Previously, she was Managing Director of the Next Einstein Forum, advancing Africa’s scientific community and science-driven policy. She has also served as Director General of Rwanda’s Government Communication Office and worked in Canada’s public, private, and international consulting sectors.

Clement Uwajeneza is a technology business leader with over 15 years of experience founding and leading companies. He is currently Africa Director at NewGlobe, driving technology-enabled solutions to transform education across the continent. He previously served as Managing Director of RwandaEQUIP, leading large-scale digital programs to improve learning in public schools. From 2014 to 2018, he served as the founding CEO of Irembo, pioneering Rwanda’s digital transformation of government services. Clement has also shaped Rwanda’s technology ecosystem as CEO of Andela Rwanda, co-founder of the Rwanda ICT Chamber and Klab innovation hub, founding member of Business Angels Rwanda, and Chairman of the Rwanda Internet Community and Technology Alliance.

Prof. Vivienne, an Advocate of the High Court since 1995, has played a leading role in transforming South Africa’s legal education landscape. At UPE, she taught corporate, intellectual property, and competition law before serving as Senior Legal Counsel at Strate Ltd, overseeing securities regulation and rule amendments. As Executive Dean of Law at NMMU (2008–2015), she led South Africa’s LLB Curriculum Reform as President of the Law Deans Association, co-chaired the 2013 National Summit, and co-drafted national LLB standards. Now DVC Academic at UWC, she also acted as Rector and VC during the COVID-19 crisis. She currently chairs the SA DVC Forum and serves on SAJEI.

Misan Rewane is the Co-founder and CEO of West Africa Vocational Education (WAVE), a Lagos-based social enterprise equipping unemployed youth with skills for entry-level jobs in high-growth industries. She is also Co-founder and Program Volunteer at The Impact Initiative, a volunteer-driven nonprofit that has empowered over 1,000 Nigerian youths through forums, mentorship, and career programs. A Stanford Economics graduate, she received the Dean’s Award for superior academic achievement and served as Secretary of the Stanford African Students Association. Misan is also a Harvard Business School MBA candidate, committed to transforming education-to-employment pathways across West Africa.

Louise Ingabire has been Subject Manager for Professional Competencies at Kepler College for seven years, where she leads curriculum design and planning for soft skills and professional behavior. Her work equips students with essential 21st-century competencies that strengthen employability, foster ethical leadership, and prepare graduates to become responsible citizens. Passionate about youth empowerment, Louise has transformed the learning experience for hundreds of Kepler students, guiding them to thrive in professional and community leadership roles. She also serves in governance as a female representative in the Kepler College Senate. Louise holds a Master’s in Leadership and Management from Arizona State University, and a Bachelor’s in Electronics and Telecommunication.

Obinna Ukwuani is a pan-African social entrepreneur passionate about building human capacity through technology, education, and enterprise. He founded Makers Academy Africa, which includes NESA by Makers in Nigeria and Makers Robotics Academy in Rwanda, empowering youth with skills in software development and engineering. He is also the Founder & CEO of Brük Oil Mills, a palm oil processing company in Nigeria. Previously, Obinna led digital innovation as Chief Digital Officer at Bank of Kigali and worked at Paystack in business operations and product management. He holds a degree in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Jean d’Amour Mutoni is the co-founder and CEO of Acts of Gratitude (AOG), a social enterprise launched in 2011 by 13 young entrepreneurs in Rwanda to support youth and women through social entrepreneurship. AOG delivers training, mentorship, and incubation through its Ingenzi Social Enterprise Programme , and provides co-working spaces, skills training, and consultancy to help turn ideas into sustainable ventures. Jean d’Amour is currently pursuing a PhD at Université Catholique de Louvain, Belgium, building on an MSc in Medical Microbiology from the University of Manchester and a BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Laboratory Sciences. With extensive experience in higher education and nonprofit work, he is committed to advancing opportunities for young people and communities.

Prof. Baylie Damtie is responsible for Kepler Rwanda and region-wide academic affairs of Kepler. He has initiated and led the development of Kepler’s Graduate Employment Program (GEP) in Rwanda and Ethiopia. He has been leading the program and institutional accreditation of Kepler college in Rwanda. He is also leading the regional project on employability system change of the Ashesi University. Before joining Kepler Prof Baylie Damtie was the President of Bahir Dar University for seven years (2011-2018). His educational background includes PhD in Space Physics from the University of Oulu (Finland), MSc in Space Physics from Tromso University (Norway) and BSc in Physics from Addis Ababa University (Ethiopia).

Dr. Emelyne Umunoza Gasana is the DVC for Academic and Research Affairs, an academic leader and researcher with expertise in curriculum design, instructional delivery, and data-driven research. She holds a PhD in Mathematical Statistics from Linköping University (Sweden), an MSc in Technomathematics from LUT (Finland), and a BSc in Applied Mathematics from KIST (Rwanda). An advocate for STEM and women’s leadership in science, through various networks such as RAWISE, OWSD, RYAS, etc. Dr. Umunoza Gasana is a recipient of the Young Scientists Prize at the LinStat Conference in Portugal.

Aloys Baziga is the Deputy-Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance at Kepler College. With more than 15 years of experience, prior to joining Kepler in 2018, Aloys was the Chief Finance Officer (CFO) at Cronimet Mining Gmbh, overseeing the company’s two subsidiaries in Rwanda: Minerals Supply Africa Ltd and Cronimet Metal Ltd. He also worked in other different senior managerial positions in finance and audit with different companies in Rwanda. His areas of expertise include Finance, Accounting, reporting, taxation, budgeting, cash flow management, auditing, compliance, operations and Human Resources management. He holds a BBA in accounting with Distinction from AUCA, and he is currently pursuing his MBA. Aloys is also a qualified CMA (Australia) Member and ACCA finalist.
