Kepler College appoints Dr. Emelyne Umunoza Gasana as Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic and Research Affairs
Kigali, Rwanda – 30 June 2025 | We are pleased to announce that Dr. Emelyne Umunoza Gasana has been appointed Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic and Research Affairs at Kepler College, effective August 1, 2025.
She brings outstanding teaching and research experience, along with valuable connections, to lead the College’s academic and research initiatives to new heights.
Ambassador Charles Murigande, Chairperson of Kepler College Council, expressed his enthusiasm: “I am delighted that Dr. Umunoza Gasana has joined the senior leadership of Kepler College. She brings a wide range of expertise, especially in mathematics and data analytics education and research, which are among the college’s main focus areas. She has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership and dedication to Kepler College’s mission. She is an excellent teacher who values her students and colleagues, and I am confident she will continue to make an impact in her new role.”
Dr. Emelyne Umunoza Gasana is currently the Program Lead for Business Analytics, an academic leader and researcher with expertise in curriculum design, instructional delivery, and data-driven research. She holds a PhD in Mathematical Statistics from Linköping University (Sweden), an MSc in Technomathematics from LUT (Finland), and a BSc in Applied Mathematics from KIST (Rwanda). An advocate for STEM and women’s leadership in science, through various networks such as RAWISE, OWSD, RYAS, etc. Dr. Umunoza Gasana is a recipient of the Young Scientists Prize at the LinStat Conference in Portugal.
Ambassador Charles Murigande also thanked Jean Pierre Mutambarungu, the Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic and Research Affairs, for his outstanding contributions to the College during its establishment and transition periods.
